Prep: 5min | Cooking: 30min
Complexity: 2/5
ingredients:
(serves 4)
500g spaghetti or other pasta of choice
For the meatballs:
500g ground turkey
1 egg
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp white vinegar
1/3 cup breadcrumbs
1 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp paprika
1 tbsp spearmint
For the sauce:
600g canned chopped tomatoes
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp chopped basil
method:
Heat oven at 220°C.
Combine all meatball ingredients in a bowl. Shape meatballs (ca. 1 tbsp portions, makes just under 30), and place on a baking sheet. Drizzle with a little olive oil and bake 15-20 min.
Meanwhile, in a wide frying pan (that will fit the meatballs later in one layer) fry the garlic in a little oil. Once aromatic, add the chopped tomatoes and 1.5 cups water. Simmer on low heat, uncovered, 15 min.
Add the basil, and season with a little salt and pepper.
Add the meatballs, and simmer another 15 min, mixing occasionally.
Boil spaghetti according to packet instructions. Serve with meatball sauce.
